The date for the Seventh Annual Hope for Huntington's Golf Classic has been set for Thursday, September 25th, 2008. The event will once again be held at Glen Flora Country Club in Waukegan, Illinois. Our Dream of a Cure for Huntington's
With the help of our community and caring donors throughout the country, our dream of a cure for Huntington's Disease may be realized. Sustained research, including genetic studies and clinical trials, is leading toward new treatments, earlier detection, and further understanding of how HD is passed from generation to generation.
Our family has joined the efforts of the Huntington's Disease Society of America (HDSA) in the battle against this disease. Our aim is to raise funds for research and heighten awareness in the community, but our ultimate goal is a cure within our lifetime.
In September of 2002 the first annual Hope for Huntington's Golf Classic was held at Glen Flora Country Club in Waukegan, Illinois. The $60,000 raised from the event was donated to researchers who are working toward a cure. Since then we have held five more golf classics, and each event has been increasingly successful. Because the amounts raised by these events are matched dollar for dollar by a silent donor, we have been able to raise over $1 million toward the cause.
The Hope for Huntington's Golf Classic includes a buffet lunch; a round of golf (including cart, greens fees and locker room); cocktails (cash bar); dinner; a raffle; a silent auction; and a live auction. There are various levels of sponsorship for the event, and the game is played in a "Scramble" format to make the outing more fun for golfers and non-golfers alike.
We hope you will support our efforts and join us at the 7th Annual Hope for Huntington's Golf Classic, which will be held at Glen Flora Country Club in Waukegan, Illinois.
