- April 24, 2008 - The Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act (GINA), which passed the House of Representatives by 420-3 last year, has passed the Senate with a vote of 95-0. Once the bill is enacted (following the president's approval), people with or at risk for a genetic disease will have legal protection from discrimination by employers and health insurance providers.
